Ellie Turns 5!

Ellie turned 5 recently in full princess style! She planned almost all aspects of her birthday this year, requesting a princess party with girls only at our house. There needed to be princess crafts and a princess cake and all her friends were to wear princess dresses. It was a talk order, but we managed to pull it off.

Ellie is pretty incredible at the age of 5. She is very funny, and always tries to get a laugh out of her friends by making crazy sounds or telling jokes. She likes school, and loves to draw especially. She invents great stories, really inventive tales that she tells Tommy. She loves to be read to and is on the cusp of learning to read herself. She is very strong. There isn't a set of monkey bars that she can get across. She loves to go to sporting events and tries hard to learn the rules. Ellie is a leader with her friends, a little too strong of a leader at times, something we are working on. She adores Luke, and is incredibly sweet with him. She is less that way with Tommy, as they both grow older we see more sibling struggles.

We are so lucky to have watched Ellie grow and blossom into such a great young lady.

A Sweet and Sad Morning

We recently had a busy morning...we hit the park for some playtime, and then Luke and Ellie had their 2 month and 5 year check ups.

First, Ellie and Tommy had some sandbox time. I happened to look over and saw Tommy's arm draped over Ellie's shoulder while they dug. So sweet.

Then they gave me some smiles.

Then we hit the doctors office. Having three kids while waiting for the doctor in the exam room made for an exciting visit. Both Luke and Ellie were very healthy but needed routine immunizations. Tommy was struggling with the other two getting so much attention. First he asked the doctor to give him an exam, which she very kindly did. Then after he saw his brother and sister get their shots, this happened....
Tears. Begging. Pleading. Screaming for a shot. The nurse tried giving him a pretend one, didn't work. She tried giving  him a band aid. Still didn't work. Finally I had to dig a plastic earpiece into his arm and put a band aid of my own on him to get the tears to end. And that ended a very active doctors appointment. Note to self: only one kid at a time next time!

Trip to the Lake

The whole family took a trip to the lake in August. Ellie and Tommy adore being at the lake. They both love to fish, throw rocks, go for canoe rides, swim and take Papa's boat out. Grandma Postlewait came with us this time, and we all had fun.

Luke at 6 Weeks

Here are some pictures of Luke at 6 weeks. He grew and grew, and while he did, wrestled with some mean stomach problems. He was our fussiest baby (which is saying something for everything who remember Ms. Fuss, Ellie Burgess). We did get the biggest smiles from him when he felt well. Here are some shots.
